Mari Warburton, LNHA, MHA
Mari served as the Special Projects coordinator for Alterra/Brookdale reporting to the CEO to provide her operational experience in the development of policies and procedures for 520 communities while working with the corporate office of legal, purchasing, clinical and sales VP’s. She assisted with the merger of all policies and procedures, forms and guidelines from Alterra to Brookdale. She worked with management information system leaders to organize a company intranet to house all paper-based policies into paperless systems for the communities.
Brookdale was the first client for her own consulting firm to provide operations support nationally to many different providers. The top services engaged from clients have been state-specific compliant policies and procedures, census development training and sales manuals, competitive analysis and rate studies, and staffing models with dementia assessments built in to provide exact staffing needs as the population ages within different building models and physical plants. M & M Healthcare also provides any services that a smaller management company needs to help service their clients without adding additional overhead or FTE’s since it tends to be project based short term work. Examples are Food Service manuals, Wellness programs and development of dementia programs.
Mari Warburton served as Vice President of the Midwest Division for Alterra/Brookdale Healthcare from 2000 to 2003, supervising over 55 properties and eight regional directors of operations, three regional nurses, and three regional sales managers as well as an asset manager and human resources director. From 1998 to 2000, she served as Regional Director of Operations for 30 Ohio properties. While at Alterra, she also developed state-specific regulatory compliance manuals and programs for 25 states.
Prior to Alterra, Ms. Warburton was the Corporate Director of Training and System Development for Karrington Health, Inc., a Columbus, Ohio based company that was purchased by Sunrise, Inc. in 1999. While at Karrington, her responsibilities focused on multi-state policies and procedures, customer satisfaction, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and administration of the director-in-training program. Before her corporate position, she was a regional director for 13 properties.
Ms. Warburton has served in many capacities within the healthcare industry including nursing homes, hospice, hospitals, and adult day care as well as coordinating educational programs for older adults through hospital-affiliated gerontology programs.
She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Ohio Assisted Living Association and is the President of M & M Healthcare Group, LLC which provides multiple services to healthcare providers that include: regulatory compliance; policies and procedures; sales and marketing assessments; training programs; quality assurance; financial management; and abuse and neglect prevention and training programs for the residential care environment. She also previously served on the Ohio Presbyterian Services Board for Westminster Thurber community. She is a licensed nursing home administrator in the State of Ohio and also holds a masters degree in health services administration. While at Alterra, she supported eight Regional Directors, three Regional nurses, and three Regional Sales Managers. Additional responsibilities included off-site training sessions as well as semi-annual Divisional meetings, prepared census data, and acted as general office manager. Due to downsizing in 2003, she reported directly to the CEO at the National Office of Alterra with duties expanding to include assistance with special projects and work supporting the Risk Management & Legal Department. She assisted the Vice President of Special Projects with the creation of state-specific policies and procedures and manuals for 23 states to meet regulatory requirements. With the acquisition of communities in Texas, she coordinated weekly census reports, made Mystery Shop calls, Competitive Analyses, Quality Assurance surveys, and monthly sales bonuses. Prior to Alterra, Ms. Morris assisted the Vice President of Operations and the Corporate Director of Training and System Development for Sunrise (Previously Karrington Health, Inc.) a Columbus, Ohio based company that was purchased by Sunrise, Inc. in 1999.
